Did you know the UCO has an expectant mothers clinic (EMC)? We speak to patient Vanessa about her experience...
Hi Vanessa. Has your time at the EMC been your first experience of osteopathy or have you received osteopathy treatment before?
I've experienced osteopathy before, but this is the first time that I have been going regularly to help manage the growing pains of pregnancy. I think consistency has been the key.
How did you find our about the EMC?
Our finance manager at work found the general clinic and then told me about the EMC.
How has the EMC helped you?
Since finding out about the EMC, I have been going weekly to help specifically with aches and pains related to later stages of pregnancy. I don’t think I could cope without it.
How many times have you visited the EMC?
Every week since 6 months.
How do you feel after treatment?
Much better. Mainly relief that some of the built up pressures from the week on my body have been released or realigned. My mood feels better and I am able to get through another week in a much better state. I feel like I am able to manage the pain more and not let it rule me, and by getting treatments I feel more in control.
Would you recommend it to other mothers?
If you are feeling the aches and pains of pregnancy then manual therapy is definitely worth trying to get your body through the months.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
What a gift to have found the UCO, especially the EMC, for their reduced rates in being able to get treatments. Being pregnant, regular attendance has been a huge help in getting me through the third trimester making the whole experience more enjoyable. They are very professional and I could not recommend them more.
Do you think you will continue to use osteopathy in the future?
Absolutely! As soon as I have had the baby am sure I will be back to try and help restore myself, plus I have heard there is a children's clinic too!
The Expectant Mothers Clinic runs on Tuesdays, 17:45 - 20:15, and Thursdays, 09:00 - 13:00 at the UCO Clinic.
