Two of our most recently completed large-scale research studies and six ongoing projects are listed below:

Clinical Risk Osteopathy and Management (CROaM) study: A large scale, mixed methods study commissioned by the General Osteopathic Council to explore patients’ and practitioners’ experiences of adverse events and treatment reactions. 

The Osteopathy, Mindfulness and Acceptance-based Programme (OsteoMAP): A three year cohort study funded by the UK Department of Health, analysing the effects of integrating psychological interventions with osteopathic treatment for patients with persistent musculoskeletal pain. 

EBASE: Attitudes and use of evidence-based practice amongst osteopaths in the UK: a cross-sectional survey: A large scale international cross sectional questionnaire survey to identify the skills, attitudes and use of evidence-based practice (EBP) amongst practising osteopaths. 

Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs): A standardised questionnaire survey of UCO patients’ opinions about the clinical services and their treatment effects.  

Clinical Assessment Study: An in-depth qualitative interview study exploring assessors’ opinions about the benefits and limitations of different assessment methods of assessing students’ levels of clinical competence. 

A supervised learning analysis of differences in kinematics between back pain sufferers and controls, with Imperial College, London.

A video-fluoroscopy study looking at differences in intervertebral coordination between back pain sufferers and controls- With Anglo European College of Chiropractors

Developing the Nintendo Wii balance board for use in the clinical environment, with the Eurpoean School of Osteopathy, Maidstone.
